The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival will be here before you know it, and we’re pretty excited. OF COURSE, we’re excited because this year’s festival is bringing almost 100 new food items to EPCOT, and we are ready to try them all!
BUT…we still have a big beef with EPCOT festivals, and we bet you’ve probably had this problem, too: there are never enough places to eat. That means you pretty much just end up using the top of a trash can as a table, and yes, we’ve all done it. Well, EPCOT just made a huge change that could mean the end of trashcan dining forever.
We were making our way at EPCOT today, and we noticed something new across from the Odyssey building. Fence tables have been placed around fencing so you finally have a tabletop that’s NOT a trash can to eat your festival food off of. GAME CHANGER. So it seems that Disney has been paying attention to at least one of our woes.
These tables are also big enough for several people to put their food on, so you can keep your party together.
Of course, Disney had to make it clear that these are TABLES, and not chairs, and each table has a sign on it that you can’t sit on it. We previously saw fence tables in Disney California Adventure, so we’re happy they’ve made their way to the East Coast.
This is great news, because EPCOT has been busy changing out its trash cans. We noticed the solar trash cans start to pop up back in June, but now we’re seeing more of those trash cans throughout the park. These trash cans presented a problem, though, because they have curved tops, which means you can’t easily place a drink, plate, or tray on them.
Of course, we might argue we’d also like to see more additional seating WITH these tables, but we’ll take what we can get. In the meantime, we’ll keep you updated on all things Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

Is it really offering more table space? They used to have the black standing tables too. If those aren’t back, then it’s probably not meeting the request for more table space. Seating is what is needed though.
Please Disney! We need more seating during festivals! When it’s 90 degree plus that might help us loyal customers!!!
Super happy to see this! Thinking this is possibly to discourage trash can table time, but that will forever remain in our heart!
YAY!!!
It’s about time. It is amazing that a company that prides itself on setting the standard had taken over 40 years to implement this guest friendly perk.
Bravo…. Guests have been complaining about this for years,
Good Move!!!
Such a simple fix to a large problem – tsk…Why did it take so long?
I know there is a need for SOMETHING so solve the problem for those of you who do the festival food thing. I personally have found the long lines a deterrent for me and opt for a nice meal somewhere instead. But looking at the photos being posted, they kind of detract from the beautiful landscaping at EPCOT and I can’t help but wonder/worry that people will drop trash etc into the plantings or leave it for someone else to clean up. I sincerely hope I’m wrong.
I’m super excited about the tables! Awesome job Disney! I will be there in September and October and can’t wait to try them out…just hope there will be enough of them to go around…😆
