Heading to Universal Orlando soon? You need to be aware of some big closures!

Jurassic Park River Adventure

If you check the Universal Orlando website before your trip, you’ll be able to see which rides and offerings will be closed during your visit. Right now, Jurassic Park River Adventure at Universal Islands of Adventure is closed for a while, getting some major construction. And if you’re curious what’s going on…we have a sneak peek!

Thanks to user @bioreconstruct on Twitter/X, we have some aerial photos of construction on Jurassic Park River Adventure. This ride has been closed for maintenance since January 5th and will reopen on November 19th, 2026.

First of all, there’s an update from Ultrasaur Lagoon. The Ultrasaur reconstruction is partially complete. You can see the base of the dinosaur, but it still needs some exterior detail work. He doesn’t look very dino-like right now! Also, the area isn’t very lagoon-y either…looks more like a desert to me!

The Stegasaur Springs area of the ride is under construction as well. You can see the Stegasaur intact but it appears like some touch-ups are being made, particularly with paint and detailing. The water is drained from this area.

We also got a glimpse into the paddock area of the ride! It’s so interesting to see it from this angle.

And finally, there’s a photo of the drop area at the end of the ride. You can see the panels that come up to create the big spray of water. We can’t wait to experience that splash again!

It’s always a little disarming to see water rides without the water in them. Hopefully this refurbishment will be just what the ride needs to run smoothly and efficiently!
