Sudden Closure Announced for New Jersey Theme Park

A whole theme park is closing!

Clementon Park & Splash World in Clementon, New Jersey, has officially decided to close at the end of the 2026 season.

On the park’s website, it says, “After five memorable years, we are saddened to announce that we have made the difficult decision to close the park and plan to offer the park for sale. It’s been such a privilege to care for a place that has meant so much to generations of families. We are hopeful that we will find a buyer who shares our love for Clementon Park and will carry its history and legacy forward.”

The park was one of the oldest operating amusement parks in the world, opening in 1907, and was one of the only thirteen trolley parks still operating before it closed. The 52-acre amusement park and water park closed in September 2019 and remained closed until it was sold at auction to Gene Staples in 2021. The park later reopened under Staples.

Staples is president and CEO of IB Parks & Entertainment, a family fun company based in Chicago, Illinois. It currently operates Indiana Beach, Niagara Amusement Park & Splash World. Lake Winnepesaukauh, and Sahara Sam’s.

It’s always sad to see an iconic park that has been around for generations close. We hope it gets purchased and continues to have families visit for years to come.
