Tomorrow’s going to be a sad day for Tokyo DisneySea, and we’re already mentally preparing, even though we’re thousands of miles away.
Back in April, the park announced that they’d be permanently closing one of their most popular attractions. It’s a ride unlike any other — you truly can’t find anything even close to it in any other Disney park, and now it’s about to be gone for good. Yes, tomorrow, we need to say a permanent farewell to Aquatopia.
Aquatopia is located in the Port Discovery section of Tokyo DisneySea. Passengers board three-seater vehicles that spin and twirl on a water course — yes, you’re ON WATER the whole time! Disney describes it as “an attraction where guests can enjoy the unpredictable movements of an automated water vehicle.” We told you it was unique!
The attraction will close for good tomorrow, September 14th. The original, traditional version of the ride closed on June 30th and has been the Aquatopia “Get Soaked” Version of the attraction from July 1st through its closure. This is part of the Summer Cool-off at Tokyo Disney Resort, where multiple rides have additional water feature versions to help guests stay cool during the summer heat.
Fortunately, there are still lots of other incredible, whimsical, and unique attractions in Tokyo DisneySea to experience, but we will miss this one greatly. Disney hasn’t announced what will be taking its place, if anything at all, but we’ll be sure to keep a close eye out. We’ll be the first to admit that new ride announcements from Tokyo DisneySea usually have us REALLY excited due to their incredible track record. The addition of Fantasy Springs to the resort totally blew our minds, and we think about it at least once a week, and we’re really looking forward to the addition of Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue, the Wreck-It Ralph ride taking over Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters. However, we’ve gotta admit that the announcement of whatever replaces this ride has to be good to make up for such a loss!

The Get Soaked version was one of the most enjoyable and fun rides at any of their theme parks. You could not help but laugh and scream on the same ride. Probably the best ride to go on with friends and family no matter how absolutely soaked you would get. Will be truly missed….
