If you’ve been dreaming of the day you’ll be able to stay in Disney World’s newest hotel, Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge, we’ve got some great news for you — an opening date has officially been announced!
Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is located closest to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, and therefore is closest to Magic Kingdom park. We’ve been keeping a close eye on construction for the past few months, but now it’s finally time to start planning our stay.
Disney has just announced that Lakeshore Lodge will open to the public on July 1st, 2027!
This is a new Disney Vacation Club hotel that intends to “celebrate the beauty and magic of nature as seen through the eyes of Disney artists and storytellers.” The hotel is inspired by Walt Disney’s love of the outdoors, and in turn, the resort’s design will “pay tribute to decades of animated stories rooted in nature, with subtle nods to classic films — from the lush forests of Bambi and the colorful winds of Pocahontas to the sweeping glacial landscapes of Brother Bear.”
When you arrive at the resort, you’ll see a one-mile tree-lined vista before seeing the Lodge itself, which is part of Disney’s self-described “grand expression” that will be carried out through the porte-cochere, as well as the lobby. It’s all intended to have a clear focus on nature, complete with skylights and lots of glass.
The new hotel will offer 967 rooms, ranging from “cozy studios to spacious suites” to fit the needs of all different groups looking to stay. Many rooms will have stunning views of Bay Lake, which may also include a look at Magic Kingdom fireworks. We know that you’ll be able to travel to Magic Kingdom via a dedicated boat dock, and buses will be available to other parks as well.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest news as this hotel gets closer and closer to completion, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB!

Will the walkway be reopened between Wilderness Lodge resort and Fort Wilderness?
We are looking forward to Lakeshore Lodge opening. We are looking to stay there. The theme is fantastic. This new resort, with its restaurants, opens up other opportunities for us in Ft Wilderness Campground also, including staying at the Ft Wilderness Cabins. They need to have plenty of golf cart parking for the campers!
Love the concept but it will not be affordable for us. We live locally and our local news channel just showed what the rooms will look like. They are gorgeous, as any upscale hotel would be, but I didn’t see any theming that would make it feel like we were at Wdw, despite all the talk about how each section of the resort would echo a certain nature Disney movie. Do you know yet how interiors will specifically mirror Pocahontas for instance? Bc we just don’t see it. Since this is being built for DVC and other wealthy visitors, we can only enjoy it vicariously. Maybe someday the new people in charge will realize that us middle-class Disney lovers would like to stay on-site, too, and build a nice themed resort! Especially since Wdw has made it incredibly difficult to visit the resorts for dining and shopping as day guests only!
