Universal Orlando is one of the most popular theme parks in the country, and for good reason. It has some of the biggest franchises, like Harry Potter, Shrek, Minions, and Monsters. Combine those franchises with character interactions, rides, entertainment, and experiences, and you’ve got yourself quite a popular spot.
Because of their popularity, this means it can also get pretty busy. BUT there are several weeks in 2027 where Universal Orlando will be EMPTY. These are the 10 weeks you should consider booking your trip to Universal Orlando.
January 9th – 15th
The early months of the year are a great time to visit the Orlando theme parks, specifically January 9th through 15th. The holiday celebration at Universal Orlando ends on January 3rd, so those crowds will officially be gone. It also won’t be too hot during this time since it’s in the dead of winter.
Something NEW Is Coming to Epic Universe for the Holidays
January 23rd – February 12th
These three weeks in January and February will be pretty slow since school will have been back for a couple of weeks now. These are also the weeks leading up to February school vacations, which are common in the northern states. Valentine’s Day also falls on a Sunday this year, so leaving before that weekend would be beneficial.

April 4th – April 10th
Jumping ahead to April, the first week will be the best time to visit. This week follows Easter weekend, so those crowds will be gone while April school vacation will begin the following week. It’s the perfect downtime between the two busier times of April.

May 2nd – May 8th
The first week in May is the LAST before the summer crowds start to hit the Orlando theme parks. While schools up north don’t typically get out until mid- to end-June, schools in Florida tend to get out in mid-May, so the first week of May is your safest bet to visit before those summer crowds hit!
CONFIRMED: A Popular Epic Universe Ride Is Closing… Again!
August 22nd – 28th
The last week of August is when the summer crowds start to die down since kids are either back in school or getting ready to go back. That is until the weekend, which typically hosts the first Halloween Horror Nights events of the season! So, if you want fewer crowds and want to experience a dose of Halloween, this may be the week for you!

September 12th – 25th
September tends to be one of the slowest times of the year when it comes to visiting theme parks since summer has officially ended and everyone is back to work and school. If you can take time off work, these two weeks in September are great times to go! Not only will you experience fewer crowds, but you’ll also be able to indulge in Halloween offerings since spooky season will have officially arrived.
Could Universal’s New Patent Reveal Upcoming CHANGES for Epic Universe?
November 1st – 7th
Finally, you can experience an empty park in the first week of November. The final night of Halloween Horror Nights tends to be either October 31st or November 1st, so the Halloween crowds will be dying down, and the holidays don’t start up until mid-November.
If you’re planning on booking a trip to Universal Orlando in 2027, make sure to take these weeks into consideration because these will be when the parks are the emptiest! Follow us at the Disney Food Blog for more theme park tips and tricks.
