Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa — located in Ko Olina, Oahu, Hawai’i — is a Disney Vacation Club property with a TON of activities, restaurants, entertainment, recreation, character interactions, and more.
We’ve been spending some time at this resort and while there’s plenty to do, we’re most excited about the FOOD! We are Disney FOOD Blog, after all. So, come with us to check out breakfast and lunch from Off the Hook at Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa!
Atmosphere
You’ll find Off the Hook located in the Waikolohe Valley pool area, near the entrance to the beach. It’s also adjacent to ‘AMA‘AMA – Contemporary Island Cooking.
Off the Hook is designed to resemble a Hawaiian fisherman’s seaside shack, with cowry-shell lures, shark-tooth knives, fishhooks and fish-shaped ku‘ulo stones once used as decoys. You’ll even see a colorful school of fish “swimming” above the bar!
Relax and enjoy food and drinks in the covered lounge while watching sports on flat-screen TVs—or create a mobile order on the Aulani app and take your items to go.
Let’s find out what’s on the menu!
Menu
We stopped by to grab a coffee for breakfast and took a look at the rest of the menu while we were at it! In addition to coffee and specialty beverages, you’ll also find food like sweet bread french toast, Mickey waffles, avocado toast, and more.
For lunch and dinner, you can order appetizers like chicken wings, ahi tuna poke, flatbreads, salads, sandwiches, pasta, entrees, and desserts. You’ll also find plenty of cocktails, beer, and wine on the menu.
Let’s find out what we’re having this time around!
Eats
To kick things off, we started our lunch with the Butcher’s Favorite Burger for $24. This burger is served with butter lettuce, tomato, red onion, and dill pickle on a brioche bun. It sounds like a pretty standard burger, so how did it taste?
This burger was excellent! It was cooked to order and the toppings went so well together. The red onion added nice acidic zing, while the butter lettuce was soft and crisp at the same time. The tomato was fresh and juicy — everything just tasted super fresh and the burger was well cooked and super filling. Something that always levels up a burger for us is a brioche bun and this one was great.
We also really loved the french fries here. They were super thick, super hot, and perfectly salted.
We also ordered one of the pastas on the menu — the Chicken Bucatini for $29. It’s made with grilled chicken, asparagus, cremini mushrooms, roasted peppers, basil cream sauce, and Parmigiano-Reggiano. It’s also served with a piece of grilled bread on the side — because all good carbs need a side of more carbs, you know?
The Chicken Bucatini was one of our favorite things we had in all of Aulani on this trip. You might not think of Italian food here, but this pasta was SO delicious. The basil cream sauce was like a creamy pesto, and if you like mushrooms you’re in luck because there were a bunch. The chicken was super tender and grilled which gave the pasta a nice taste.
Drinks
We stopped by to grab the Breakfast of Champions one morning and grabbed the Aulani Special for $9. This specialty coffee is a mocha macadamia nut latte, and it’s just as delicious as it sounds.
It was super sweet and definitely gave us dessert coffee vibes with the whipped cream on top. We couldn’t really taste the coffee, so this is probably going to be the special coffee option for those who like sweet drinks. Off the Hook is also the only place to get specialty coffees before 10 AM, so if you want a specialty like coffee, you want to head here!
At lunch, were feeling tropical and grabbed a Piña Colada for $16. This one was made with Don Q Rum, cream of coconut, and pineapple juice. The Piña Colada was great, but pretty standard. They use SUCH a great blend here throughout the resort. The drinks are pineapple-y, coconutty, and perfectly creamy.
We also picked up the Cucumber Lychee Fizz for $16 as well. This cocktail is made with Effen Cucumber Vodka, lychee, and fresh lemon juice topped with ginger ale. If we had to describe this drink with three words, they’d be tasty, refreshing, and cool. It was one of those super light, super drinkable drinks.
We could definitely taste the lychee, but this was a little bit too on the sweet side. We wish we could have tasted more of the alcohol — that would have balanced this out a bit more, but it was definitely something we’d get again.
Nosh or Not
You should make a stop at Off the Hook if…
- You’re looking for a quick bite to eat that’s also delicious.
- You want some variety with what’s on the menu.
- You want to dine somewhere with great views.
You should skip Off the Hook if…
- You’re looking for a table-service restaurant that’s a bit more upscale.
- You want to dine at an indoor restaurant.
Overall
Our visits to Off the Hook at Aulani were both excellent, and we would definitely come back to eat here time and time again. Whether you’re looking for a quick coffee or bite to eat at breakfast or are after something more substantial for lunch or dinner, chances are you’ll find it at Off the Hook!
