Okay, Disney has dropped a LOT of parks news during the Disney Experiences Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, and our heads our spinning! But what we might be MOST excited about is that we finally got details about Villains Land (yep, that’s it’s official name) coming to Magic Kingdom.
First up, we got details about a Maleficent-themed roller coaster that will be coming to the land, but Disney also revealed that a dark ride would be coming, too — and we got more details about that!
The dark ride will be hosted by the Evil Queen’s Magic Mirror. Your journey will take you to him in the catacombs beneath her palace. Once you’re there, he’ll transport you to the mystical Mirror Realm where you’ll see what lies on the OTHER side of the mirror. You’ll encounter all sorts of Disney Villains durinig your journey that will include a combination of special effects and physical set pieces.
We also learned more about the roller coaster coming to the land, which will be Maleficent-themed and will use things that’s never been done on similar Disney rides before…OOH!
We’ve been also keeping an eye on construction of the land, but it looks like it might be some time before we see any real progress, but it’s REALLY HAPPENING. Disney also didn’t drop any details about an opening timeline, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for more updates, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

The real world is dark and evil enough. I have no interest in Villains Land. Walt always made sure the villains were vanquished, not celebrated. I used to go to the parks to escape into good and happy endings!
