Disneyland, you did not hold back with these snacks!
We’re always looking for new snacks at Disney World and Disneyland, and while we have our returning favorites, we could probably live off of the new snacks they drop every week. This time, we’re heading to two different restaurants to try some dishes that we don’t think we’ll ever be able to live without.
First up, we’re heading to Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante, located in Frontierland. We started with the Mexican-style Shrimp Cocktail for $12.99, with poached shrimp, tomatoes, red onions, cilantro, cucumber, celery, and spicy cocktail sauce served with crackers.
While we thought this was a solid shrimp cocktail, it wasn’t necessarily our favorite dish of all time. The tomato sauce has some sweetness, and a lot of tartness still shines through. There’s a good amount of spice and a bit of a kick at the end. The shrimp are perfectly cooked, and the flavors work well together; you also get about ten shrimp, so it’s easy to share. We wish we got a little more for the price, and we had a lot of tomato sauce left by the end, so we needed a bit more shrimp!
We also had the Nachos for $14.99, made with tortilla chips, beans, guajillo cheese sauce, house-made tomatillo salsas, red jalapeños, sour cream, and guacamole.
This isn’t the first time this restaurant has had nachos, and in the past, they were some of our favorite foods in the park! You’ll want to eat these as soon as they come out because the toppings can make the nachos very cheesy. They have a bit of a spicy kick from two different salsas, plus flavorful cheese, and while the flavors all go together, we wish we could add a protein on top, like beef or pork. When we asked, it wasn’t an available option, and it wasn’t as fresh as we were hoping. It felt particularly one-note and a bit underwhelming. When you need nachos, this might do the trick, but you’ll likely find better meals throughout the park.
To drink, we grabbed the Horchata Slushy for $8.49.
This was the highlight of our meal! It tastes just like authentic horchata and was super refreshing and delicious. We loved that it wasn’t that expensive of an add-on and really brought the whole meal together.
We had one more stop for the day before we called it quits. We went to Bengal Barbecue in Adventureland to grab the Garlic Naan, which is grilled bread basted with herb butter, for $5.79.
The bread was fluffy, buttery, and super garlicky! We loved the flame-broiled, toasted flavor of the bread, and once you add a skewer like the Bengal Beef Skewer, it’s a total game changer. It’s filling and a great addition to Bengal Barbecue, and we’ll be adding it every time we order from here.
In the meantime, make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more of our favorite snacks and dishes you’ll want to try on your next Disneyland vacation.
