One of our favorite holidays has officially taken over Disney World — Halloween! And with it comes a TON of new eats, drinks, merchandise, entertainment, and more at Magic Kingdom.
There are over 50 spooky snacks at this year’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, most of which are exclusive and only available during the party. However, a handful of these treats are available during the day without a separate party ticket. Come with us to the Plaza Restaurant to try some new, spooky eats and drinks!
This menu is available through October 31st, and the best part about it is that you don’t even need a Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party ticket to try it, as the items are available during regular park hours! Since the Plaza Restaurant is a table-service spot, reservations are highly recommended, though you can always try to join the Walk-Up Waitlist as well.
When we tried the Plaza Restaurant’s Halloween menu last year, we had a blast and loved everything, so we’re excited to see how these new menu items stack up this year!
We grabbed the NEW Devilish Crispy Chicken Sandwich, which comes with ghoulish spiced mayonnaise, red cabbage, and Fresno peppers on a black Kaiser roll, served with French fries. You can get this for $26.
This was crispy with a surprisingly spicy sauce — it was spicier than we were expecting for Disney World! The cabbage slaw helped balance the spiciness, though, and we really appreciated the flavor they both brought to the dish. The bread was soft and fluffy and didn’t lose any of its flavor or texture from the coloring, which was a major win. Overall, we’d absolutely get it again, and totally recommend it if you don’t mind some spice!
For dessert, we also picked up the new Phantom Pecan-Caramel Cheesecake. This is layers of New York and caramel cheesecake with dulce de leche, chocolate ganache, and pecans on a chocolate crust for $10.
Talk about a delicious cheesecake! This was very rich, but the caramel was so smooth and had the perfect level of sweetness. The cheesecake itself was very decadent and so easy to cut through; it literally melted in our mouths. The chocolate itself was also very well balanced in terms of flavor, making the whole dessert not overly sweet. It’s another one we’d absolutely get again!
You can also get the Skull Meatloaf — a Caribbean-style glazed meatloaf served with loaded mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables for $27. When we had this last year, we thought the mashed potatoes had hints of pumpkin spice, which was weird but interesting! It tasted good, but again, it tasted like pumpkin spice, which is different for potatoes. This one definitely had to grow on us. There’s bacon in it, which gives it a bite and cuts through the pumpkin spice. We liked it paired with the meatloaf.
… and the Goblins and Ghoulies cocktail for $17.50. This comes with Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum, Disaronno Originale Liqueur, apple cider, and pomegranate juice. Last year, we thought this one was delicious. The fruit flavor was very apparent but not overwhelming, and it was not very strong. It reminded us more of a punch, like a Capri Sun. The rum wasn’t very strong, which was perfect for peeps who don’t love super strong alcohol flavors. You could taste a bit of the spice right on your tongue, but again, it’s not hit you over the head with spices. It was very good, and we would absolutely drink again! If you’re looking for a strong rum flavor, this isn’t for you.
Overall, we think these new eats are fantastic additions, and don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you head to the Plaza Restaurant for them! Do we recommend using some of your valuable Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party time to snag a dining reservation? Not necessarily, but we do think it’d be great to enter the park at 4 when party guests are admitted, and snag a reservation for before the party begins!
